SiA is founded and authorized by the current law on student associations. SiA’s business address is Gimlemoen 32, 4630 Kristiansand.

The educational institutions stated in the addendum are associated with SiA.

The board shall have ten members and deputies, chosen in the manner outlined below:

  • 5 members with deputies elected by Velferdstinget.
  • 2 members with deputies elected by the staff.
  • 3 members with deputies elected by the associated educational institutions.

A student’s term in office is one year. Each year one student is elected to sit in office for two years. For the other members, the term in office is two years. The term starts January 1st.

Election of chairman and deputy chairman is done according to regular provisions in the Companies Act, see § 6-26.  If the students demand it, a chairman and deputy chairman must be chosen from the student representatives in the board. The election term for chairman/deputy chairman is one year.

The managing director and chairman of the board founded the student association together. The board may, in individual cases, grant the managing director power of attorney.

The board decides, evaluates and, if necessary, changes the rules of procedure, according to § 6-23 of the Companies Act

The managing director is employed by the board. The board decides, evaluates and, if necessary, changes the rules of procedure for the managing director. All other employees are hired by the managing director.

8.

The general manager in subsidiaries is employed by the subsidiary board, with approval of the managing director of SiA. The general manager shall report to the managing director of SiA in the same fashion he reports to the board of the subsidiary in question, in accordance with § 6-15 of the Companies Act.

9.

SiA shall have a business plan which is evaluated on a regular basis. The business plan, and revisions thereof, must be approved by the board.

10.

Subsidiaries which are engaged in student related activities, is to be considered a part of the SIA business.

11.

The board can change the bylaws with a 2/3 majority. Before the amendments are adopted, the proposed amendment must be presented to Velferdstinget and the associated educational institutions.

12.

In other cases the Student Association Act applies, with reference to the provisions in the Companies Act.
